Graduation Diplomas For All

graduation cords

To honor or reward graduates for their exemplary achievement most education institutions provide the graduates with graduation cords. The graduates who normally wear the cords (also known as honor cords) are from honor societies or fraternities and those who are graduating either as magna or summa cuum laude. The cords are given to the graduates as a symbol of appreciation by the institution. The graduation cords are normally worn in pairs but those who prefer to wear single cords can do so.

One can be able to wear the same or different colors of the cords depending on the rules of the honor society. For instance, Alpha Epsilon honor society, wears gold, green or blue cords. The double cord is made up of two single cords tied together at the middle by a knot. The color of the cord worn will depend on the type of honor society. The graduation cords are placed around the neck and left hanging downwards. It cannot be worn alone, but must be worn together with the full graduation attire. In most ceremonies the cords worn are made of single or double colors, but there are others that can be made of up to three colors.
