Cheerleading Uniform Changes
Gordon InternationalCheerleading uniforms have changed so much over the last ten years. Remember when the uniforms were mostly just skirts and polo shirts with white socks and tennis shoes? In those days there was not a lot of jumping and rolling. Usually a line of students stood in front of an audience and clapped twice then shot their hands straight in the air. At the college level there were a couple of guys added to the group who would toss the lightest girl in the air at least once, or until one of them got hurt. But, the uniform really didn’t change that much so movement was still prohibited. Now there are a minimum of twelve jumps that are regularly used by cheerleading teams. The jumps alone required a major change in the way were made. Now cheerleading uniforms must not only meet strict standards, they must also provide flexibility, movement and style both when actual cheerleading is taking place and when the uniforms are being worn during promotional events. Whether a cheerleader is just beginning in a private cheerleading organization or they are working for an organization like the NBA or NFL, the cheerleading uniforms cheerleading uniform they are wearing must be adaptable and able to stay stylish in any situation. The old days of skirt and shirt cheerleading uniforms are gone and now unique uniforms representing the team or organization cheerleaders are representing have taken their place.
