What to See and Do in the Peak District
The Peak District is a perfect getaway from the fast pace of metropolitan day-to-day living. If you are from Manchester or Sheffield, it’s reachable in about an hour going by train or car and a wonderful selection for a one or two day break, or even longer. If you are coming from a place further away, we recommend you can stay in the Peak District for four or five days since there’s much to get up to in the Peak District.
A lot of people connect the Peak area with summer holidays, yet it’s beautiful all year round, and nowhere is the season’s change more emphasised than in the Peak area.
As mentioned previously, there’s a lot to get up to in the Peak District. The glorious hillsides entice holiday makers out of their accommodation and into their walking boots, and there’s a lot of walks – as many as thirty well tramped walks.
There’s also plenty of places to try your luck at fishing in the Peak District, especially Ladybower. Even if you’re not given to such physical hobbies, take your car and check out Chatsworth House. Three of four hours at the house is advised, the garden area alone you can spend a good few hours in! Or go to Buxton for lunch and a walk in their pavilion gardens, or the opera (yes, Buxton has its own Opera house). Not to forget the villages in the Hope Valley that are glorious .
