A Detoxifying Diet for Weight Loss and Health
Our food, water and air contain an astounding assortment of chemical substances, some of which are toxic to the body even in low amounts, and many of which are strenuous on your body’s natural detoxification system. A body cleanse detox will keep your body healthy and will fight off disease. As well as doing several body detoxes a year, you can keep up a healthy, clean body by nudging your normal routine diet toward a cleansing diet. In addition to furnishing year round body cleansing, a cleansing diet will help you maintain improved health, improved energy and mood, and a lower weight. Many people have experienced enduring weight loss with a cleansing diet. There are many excellent detox foods that you can incorporate into your diet.
The most simple way to change over to a cleansing diet that will help you lose weight and keep it off is to consume more fresh fruits and vegetables and limit your intake of fatty foods, processed foods and sugary foods. Here are several ideas for which foods to include in your cleansing diet:
- 2-5 pieces of fresh fruit daily. Only an occasional banana. Dried fruits should be soaked overnight.
- 2 salads a day, at lunch and dinner.
- Grilled chicken (not fried!), fish or tofu for your protein. Lean meat on occasion.
- A glass of vegetable juice once a day if possible. Best vegetables are cucumber, celery, carrot, beets and parsley. If you don’t have the time or equipment to make vegetable juice at home, purchase it fresh in a large quantity, portion it into 2 oz servings and freeze for future consumption.
- Sea vegetables (seaweed) every day. Powdered dulse and kelp are easy to use. Granulated seaweeds can even be used as a salt substitute.
- Finally, drink more water. Try to raise your water intake to a gallon a day of fresh, filtered or distilled water. Some of your daily intake can include a few glasses of unsweetened herbal tea. No flavored, sweetened drinks. Sodas do not hydrate, they only add more material to your body’s detoxification system.
