Fluidity

You never know anything for certain in online poker. You have an unknown variable for each opponent that you’re playing against. While it’s a great idea to get to know your opponents, it’s a terrible to think that you know them. Sounds weird, I know, but just when you think that you know an opponent, he’ll surprise you with a play that comes totally out of left field.

Even if you know your opponents and how they usually play, you need to adjust for each opponent in every situation that he or she may encounter-if he’s the big stack, the small stack, what kind of mood he’s in, you even need to pay attention to see if he’s trying to adopt a new playing style. Just as you adjust your style of play for how your poker opponents are acting, your opponents are changing their style to adjust to how you’re playing.

Even if you think that you know your online poker opponents inside and out, don’t sit back and stop watching them-keep your eyes open for any change that they might undergo. Poker is a fluid game with your opponents each changing from one moment to the next, so be a fluid player and adjust your play accordingly.
